Gingerbread and Copernicus

After the cancelation of the Midterm training which should be held in Torun, I swore to myself if it is possible to travel again, I am going to travel to Torun. Luckily traveling become possible again and therefor I decided to go Torun together with Kyra and Elena. There we spent one Weekend, and I have to admit that Torun is incredibly beautiful city. The historic centre of it is preserved and give the city a medieval feeling. Besides this the city is very well known for two aspects. The gingerbread is very traditional here and the other reason is it is the birthplace of Nikolas Copernicus.

Due to this reason there is a gingerbread museum, which gives some insights in the traditional way of baking gingerbread, it is made in an interactive way which allows the visitors to help during the process of making and then everybody has the chance to decorate one heart made out of gingerbread with colourful sugar. In the museum they explained that the traditional recipe has some other spices than regular gingerbread and therefore it tastes different and I have to say its true. I could taste a difference to normal one, it is a little bit spicier than the regular one.

There is also a planetarium in the city centre located, which had a show about the discoveries Copernicus made, that the earth isn’t the centre of the universe. It was made in a really impressive way and after it I had the feeling of being just such a small part of the whole world.

Another thing which I have to mention is the hostel were, we slept because it was so cool. It was a ship on the Vistula river, there we slept in a cabin with view on the river and it was amazing there
