“Tips” for your ESC

Now that the end is coming for us, 2019-2020 volunteers. I think that is the moment to send a message for the future generations that will come and will pass this experience of the European Solidarity Corps. Also for those people that are thinking to take part of this project or other project around Europe. ESC has changed my life, probably is an unique experience in our lifes.

Firstly, I would like to make you think a bit. Why are you choosing this? Why do you want to life this experience? Where do you want to go? What do you expect of this project? What can you support to your project? or Will be everything perfect?

From my perspective, let me say that reflexion is important. It’s important to think about everything, to be a little bit introspective. Not everything will be easy. It’s not easy to arrive to a new country, with a different language, culture or climate. It’s not easy to be alone, to start again, to be far from people you love.

But in the other hand, take all this difficulties and make them an advantage. Because do an ESC is a continues challenge and this is not bad. New opportunities, new friends, new learnings or experiences. Because be ready for the negative things have to make you more ready for recieve all the good things that will come.

Be open minded. I’m not talking about ideas, people or cultures, that’s something that you should have just when you are choosing to do an ESC. Be open to everything, meeting new people, experiences, changes or activities. Be ready for change yourself, because this project will change you.

Be active. Because this project is dinamic. Be active to propose new ideas or recieve the ideas of others. Participe in all the activities. From your organization or from your friends. Because everything you will do it’s important. Because all the experiences count. And this project provides you more than you expect.

Leave all your fears at home. It’s normal feel fear before coming here, also during your project fears and difficulties will come. But stay positive. Because difficulties are a great challenge for develop yourself. Because all the steps that you will make during your life here will be helpful for improving.

Be ready. For meeting amazing people, visiting places, experiences. For develop yourself not only in a personal way but also of course in a profesional way too. Because this project brings you the chance to improve your skills, create new ones and find yourself.

Finaly, give all of you. Because this experience will need the best of you. It will need your help to be incredible. You will live, explore, meet, create and love. Give all your love, your dedication, because probably people will need it. It will need you.

It’s all about solidarity.
