Cześć Polsko!

Thank you for hosting me,

As you know I am one of the volunteers for 2020/21, and you must be wondering why a girl from a small country like Serbia choose you?

The answer is really simple – I like your culture, people, food and tradition, but I don’t like the situation you are in now… but let’s leave that for later.

First of all, let me show you why I choose you.

For the first 10 days here I was in Warsaw, your capital and I have to tell you it’s wonderful. A mix of old construction and some American city. It’s hard to explain so I will just post a few photos to see what I meant.

In Warsaw, I met a lot of volunteers with different mindsets and cultures, and together we did a lot of things starting from workshops, board games, dinners, exploring Warsaw, and in one word, adapting.

I live now in Będzin in a small town near Katowice and I can tell you the first impression was not that good. Why? Hm, everything was grey and gloomy. But with the first rays of the sun, I fell in love with Będzin and autumn. Somehow Autumn makes everything much more beautiful than it might be.

See, I told you!

I tried your food as well, and I can tell you that we are very similar, you and my country Serbia. You guys just love to use potato in everything ? and stay tuned because I will have nine months to try everything.

And I can’t forget people! I’m working with students and in six lives I wouldn’t say that someone can accept us like that and be happy to have the opportunity to talk with us. I can tell you that makes me happy, and thank YOU for that!

And yes, I will do my best to make the most of the opportunity I was given – getting to visit you. I hope that I will be a good guest and stay tuned for my next blog/vlog because as I told you, living in Poland is interesting!

And one of the students gave me an interesting quote that made me think.

„Reach for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars”

So just a little reminder for me and all of you, if you aim high, even if you fail to achieve your goals you will still achieve far more than if you have no ambition.

Pišem ti uskoro, Polsko!
