Almost every city has this one landmark which stands for it, Paris has the Eiffel tower, Rome has the colosseum and Warsaw has the Palace of Culture and Science. It is almost visible form all corners of the city, even from my area, there is one spot where you still see the top of it, and I live almost 13 km away from the building. This is due to the fact that it is still the tallest building in Poland with 237 meters and stands in the center of Warsaw for 65 years. This building has some controversial history, it was given as a gift to the polish population from the Soviet Union. Therefore, there existed a controversial if this building should still exist or be removed. In this building are numerous museums and cultural institutions hosted, this explains the name of it.
It is located in the center of Warsaw and for me it represents Warsaw and every time I see it, I am amazed by the fact of how good it looks and I made to many pictures of it, because it is always stoning. I know for some people it is a symbol of the communism and it was at the beginning, but sometimes you have to change the meaning into a positive way and that worked. It is now the cultural center of the capital. When I think about Warsaw this building comes to my mind, instantly. It is for me the symbol of the city.
