Pierogi Love

Food is one of the essential parts of all cultures, every country has at least on dish which is typical for it. Austria has the Wiener Schnitzel, Italy has Pizza, France has Crepes and Poland has Pierogi. For all the People who don’t know what Pierogi is, I will explain it for you. Pierogi are dumplings filled with different ingredients, some are filled with meat other with potatoes and white cheese other have mushrooms or cabbage inside. There is also the option to have it as a dessert with a sweet filling. They can be steamed or fried. You see the are many styles of Pierogi and all are tasty in their way.

Pierogi was the first traditional polish meal I had, and I that was one I really liked. During the first week, the whole team of us went to a restaurant which is known for pierogi and we all had together pierogi. It is like the first introduction to the polish culture, because food is an universal language, which is understand by everyone.  Some volunteers arrived later, due to some issues with Visa or for other reasons and me Elena were always invited to eat pierogi together with our coordinators and the new volunteers. So that they have also the same introduction as we had. That was always a highlight, and highly enjoyed by me and Elena.

In the picture, these are pierogis which were fried and filled with duck and served with cranberries. One of the best I had, but when you never had Pierogi before in your life you should eat pierogi ruski, they are quite simple but tasty. They are one filled with a dough made from white cheese and potatoes.
