This is the coat of arms of the town Chorzele. It was the first time I had a workshop outside of Warsaw where I had to stay longer than one day. Therefor I was accommodated in a hotel, which was completely empty besides Elena and me. For the first time in two months I had a room just for myself and I wasn’t used to that level of privacy anymore.
There I was for the first time in a small polish town. This area of the Masovian region is one of the moral rural one. The difference to Warsaw is huge, which wasn’t surprisingly at all, because you can’t compare a 3000-inhabitant town with the 2 million capital city. But still to see the difference, was interesting, especially seeing how important religion is in this rural area. The school we have been was called Elementary School Jan Pawel II. (John Paul II.) and it wasn’t the last school which was called after him. After we are done with the workshops the director invited us for a coffee in her office. There we had some coffee and cake. I was amazed by the fact how many paintings of Jan Pawel II, can fit in small office room. The answer is 8.
There I also had a feeling that school is not only about the lesson they have, school can be a place where you can spend free time. There were some table tennis plates, for playing after the school is finished. Also, the teacher who invited Elena and I organised on a regular base languages meeting with the kids. There we head the chance to show the kids the advantage of knowing more languages, and I had the feeling it had really an impact. Besides the also dance there to songs they like, and they showed me their chorography.
