My way to learn foreign languages

Hi there! How are you guys doing? Now we are living in Poland and I heard a lot of times that I’m lucky that I speak Polish. True, true, true!

I’m lucky I put a lot of time and energy for learning it. Because more effort I put for Polish more love I receive back 🙂 And according to it I want to share some tips that might help you in learning foreign languages (on bases of my Polish story).

Let’s the story start!

Why?

Find your “why” to learn languages. My “why” was finally understand what priest from catholic church tell during the holly mass. Because from my childhood I was going to catholic church and pray in Polish but didn’t understand it well.

What do you need?

Motivation and effort. It doesn’t mean you need money. For my first language course I paid 75 euro for 1 year. After that I have learnt 6 years by myself without any payment. For now I have free polish language course. But I pay a lot of time for that.

How much time to learn during the day?

From my experience it depends on your goals, so I learn from 15 minute to 4.5 hours per day.

Where to learn?

You can learn where you want: at the table, in a bad, at the metro station, during a break at job. Everything up to you!

Which tools to use?

Language courses – It is up to you to go to language course or no. As for me with Polish I am really happy I started to learn Polish from the language course which was provided by Polish person.

Notebooks – where to write all new words you see. I’m very serious now!

Books – to read in foreign language. Start from fairytales for example.

News – watch news from the country witch language you learn.

Computer, phone – watch videos, movies (without subtitles), listen to music, chat with people.

Applications – to improve your language grammar.

Communication with native speakers – When I started to learn Polish the only one Polish person I know was my teacher. So I decided to find one more and occasionally I found a man from Łódź on website Postcrossing. It is a website where you can send a postcard to stranger people around the world. I have sent him a postcard, after we started communication by letters, after by e-mails and we still continue the communication. Thanks for him I understand Polish language, Polish culture and Polish cuisine.

Enjoy, have fun

Just some fun things from learning Polish 🙂
