ANDRIANA’S QUICK WARSAW GUIDE

Hey hey

New volunteer that doesn’t know where to start hanging out? I got your back!

(I may not be a local, but I was for sure outgoing.)

CHAPTER 1: FOOD

With the tight volunteer budget, of course eating out at high-end places is kind of impossible. Worry not though, Poland has some amazing life saving places called Bar Mleczny. Very low cost self-service restaurants where you can eat fresh, good quality local cuisine. I collected my favorite ones for you. I hate cooking so trust me, I explored quite a lot.

NUMBER 1 IN MY HEART FOREVER:

Pyzy, Flaki Gorace

Brzeska 29/31,
03-739 Warszawa

https://www.pyzyflakigorace.pl/

I really really love pyzy and their toppings. They put everything in cute jars and you can get full just for 16pln. In the sunny days you can sit outside and have a view on some Praga graffiti and old building from WW2.

Number 2: Kuchnia za ścianą

They are a chain but I only went to the one in Ochota. It is not super cheap but you can pick from a variety of dishes on the buffet and then they weigh your plate. I never ate something I didnt like there.

Number 3:

3.1 Mokotowski Bar Mleczny

Puławska 63, 02-595 Warszawa

Great food for very cheap, but it may be too crowded in the midday.

3.2: Bar mleczny Biedronka in Ochota.

It may not look nice inside but you can get really good food at a great quantity for super cheap. My favorite nalesniki z serem.

3.3 Bar Mleczny “Mleczarnia Jerozolimska”

on Moliera 8 🙂

great potato pancakes and a good lunch offer if you get dish+salad+desert+soup!

*I also like the food at a milk bar in Mokotowksa 22 but the staff was not so nice so, hmm.. Go at your own risk ahah. Generally I pay lot of attention to these things because I want to feel comfortable*

Restaurants (and other kind of places whatsoever):

  • MONTOWNIA SMAKÓW (3 tram stops away from metro Ratusz Arsenal.)

I loved their noodles with shrimps and they also make good cocktails. It’s a cheap place and if the weather is good you should sit outside in the evening. Quiet area, not used to foreigners.

  • Mr. Pancake on Marszałkowska 17

Really big portions of pancakes at a pretty place.

  • ØL3 (not far from Politechnika metro)

Beer, pizza, coffee. Pretty alternative vibes.

  • Manekin

They are a popular chain, pretty affordable but maybe you will wait in line.

  • check out the Nocny market in the summer!

CHAPTER 2: COFFEE

HANDS DOWN THE BEST ARE IN PRAGA:

  1. HAŁAS Vinyl+Coffee (really nice place, found by complete accident as it is in a quiet residential street. 10/10.)
  2. Temperatura
  3. U Krawca
  4. Nancy Lee
  5. Grochowianka

And, those who are not in Praga:

Near Chopin Museum: STOR (cute, small, great coffee, pro lgbtq+)

near Muzeum Narodowe: Charlotte, mostly for desserts and breakfast I’d say.

Near pl. Zbawiciela: ØL3 , Ministry of Coffee

Near Schuman Office:

Relax Na Wilczej (I loved the staff)

Coffeedesk

30 Koszykow

Near Mokotow:

Relaks (alternative music yay)

In Zoliborz:

Secret Life Cafe (you order inside)

Near Szansa (Ochota): Milo cafe, it’s vegan!

CHAPTER 3: BARS AND NIGHTLIFE

Bars:

Cool Cat, Wozownia, Foton, Kraken, Pawilony area, bars like Rakieta near Muzeum Narodowe (probably more fun in the summer), Chmury in 11 listopada street if you like alternative places 🙂

Clubs:

If it’s summer you dont need it, just go to the riverside.

Anyway!

I mostly enjoyed the techno scene of Warsaw if you are into that, with the right local friends you can discover loads of underground parties in cool locations. There’s also Jasna 1 which is a pretty nice techno place, not as posh or hostile as Smolna (Smolna has a nicer space but they even check what kind of clothes you wear or if you remember which DJs they have that day).

Oh and there’s a cute place close to Chmury that plays rock, it’s Hydrozagadka.

CHAPTER 4: FOREIGNER FRIENDLY CINEMA

Kino Muranow, Kino Luna and the kino of Ujazdowski castle often have artistic productions with english subtitles!

Enjoy your stay!
